Do you plan to volunteer at parks, festivals, races, concerts and other nonprofit events this year? Do you frequently come in contact with visitors to our area, who may not understand how to acclimate?
You can get the knowledge and skills to help someone be safer and feel better while enjoying outdoor activities in the San Juan Mountains in a short, two-hour class on Monday, June 10. Please join this special Basic Outdoor First Aid taught by Ruth Stewart of Ouray County Emergency Medical Services from 6 to 8 p.m. at the UWP Office in Ridgway.
UWP is organizing this first aid training for RiverFest volunteers and opening up to others in our community who are the first line of contact with visitors for our local nonprofits and businesses. To enhance the safety and injury response during our popular summer season, participants will learn how to get help for people experiencing dehydration, altitude sickness, hypothermia, injury, and common health emergencies in the San Juan Mountains.
The fee is $10 for adults (21+), and $5 for 12 to 20 year olds. Please register for the class by Friday, June 7, by filling out the form below. Please bring your check or cash payment to the class that evening.
