The Trail Town Ten is the signature June event in Ridgway, organized by the San Juan Mountain Runners (SJMR). The all-volunteer running club has been active in southwestern Colorado since 1977, sponsoring fun-runs and other running events in Montrose, Ridgway, Ouray and on the Western Slope.
This year, the Trail Town Ten will happen on Saturday morning, June 28, on the same day as the Ridgway RiverFest with proceeds going to the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership. The fun run and walk is 5 miles or 10 miles along the county roads under the Cimarron Range. The races will be held on June 28 with a 7:30 a.m. start. Advance registration is available online, or racers can register in person on race morning starting at 6:45 a.m.
The Trail Town 10-mile run was first held in 2012, and was sponsored by the Trail Town distillery. The course starts on the east side of Ridgway at the Trail Town building complex and proceeds south to Ouray County Road 12 then east to County Road 12A, north to County Road 10 and loops back to County Road 12. A 5-mile run was added in 2017 at the request of local runners and is an out and back along Ouray County Roads 12 and 12A. Both races share an aid station at mile 2.5 and the 10-mile course has a second water station at mile 5.
Racers are encouraged to take a break and head over to the RiverFest between noon and 5 p.m. to get a free drink by turning in their bib number.
